Terence O’Flaherty’s voice is like an aged whiskey… it’s rich but it’s got an edge, which is what I love about it. So many Irish vocalists sound twee and old fashioned in their earnest warbling. But you can hear the loss and regret in Terence’s voice, which is why you can compare him to the American folky stuff. And doesn’t the song about Ennistymon make you want to hop on a ferry and head for The Wesht for a session.
