The Lighthouse at Inisheer

I’m attempting to do regular paintings and drawing of the view outside my window. The Aran Isles lie WNW from here. This is the Inisheer Lighthouse after sunset. I applied the paint using my old gardening glove and bits of kitchen roll. If Rothko had been a landscape painter he’d have loved it here. In a sense, the early night time sky in Doolin is a Rothko rip-off.

The lighthouse was upgraded in 2001 and the old diesel generators taken out. I discovered this from a website called the Commission for Irish Lights. They have a publication called BEAM magazine. Check them out at http://www.cil.ie/
